South Gloucestershire Youth Offending Team
After Court What Happens Next?

Different things will happen depending on the sentence the Court gives. If you are given an Order you will automatically be referred to the Youth Offending Team. When you leave the court go and speak to a YOT worker, they will explain what you need to do and will arrange an appointment for you to see somebody from the YOT.

You will need to meet with somebody from the YOT within a week. When you meet your YOT worker, they will fully explain what you need do, how you can do it and how they will help. At this meeting your YOT Worker will need to do an Assessment, this means they will talk to you and ask you questions about your school or work, your family etc... Try to be as honest as possible, this will help when you have to agree to the programme of work that your YOT worker will put together. This programme of work is called and intervention, this means that there are a number of things that you have agreed to do while you are on a Court Order.

Even if you have not been given a Court Order you may want to talk to someone about what has happened, or may like some help sorting out a few problems. You can talk to anyone from the team and it will be strictly confidential.
